Avinox has introduced the DP200, a handlebar-mounted display and control unit designed to give manufacturers more flexibility when integrating its e-bike drive system. Until now, the platform has been closely associated with a touchscreen built into the top tube, an arrangement that creates a clean cockpit but can require riders to move a hand away from the bar.
The DP200 places a 1.4-inch colour LCD touchscreen beside five physical buttons within thumb reach. Two buttons change assistance levels, two can operate compatible electronic shifting, and one controls power. Depending on the bicycle’s configuration, the unit can also manage functions such as lighting and walk assistance.
Avinox says the screen combines high brightness with an anti-glare surface for outdoor visibility. A scratch-resistant coating and IP56 protection are intended to help it withstand rain, dust and routine trail or commuter use. Other settings, custom ride modes and software updates remain available through the Avinox Ride app.
The unit also supports Apple Find My for locating a compatible bike. Apple Watch integration can be used to unlock the system and provide an additional ride display.
Moving these controls to the handlebar adds hardware and wiring to the cockpit, but it addresses a practical limitation of the integrated display. More importantly for the market, the DP200 gives bike brands another interface option for urban, trekking and mountain-bike applications built around Avinox hardware.
